FAQ
Buying Ball Pythons in New Jersey
Where are you located?
Snake Loop Reptiles is based in Essex County, New Jersey. We serve local buyers across NJ, NYC, and surrounding areas, and also ship safely nationwide.
Do you offer local pickup?
Yes — we offer local pickup in New Jersey to help buyers save on shipping costs. We’re happy to coordinate a convenient pickup time.
Do you ship ball pythons nationwide?
Absolutely. We ship nationwide within the United States, weather permitting, using safe and approved reptile shipping methods.
Shipping & Safety
How do you ship your snakes?
We ship exclusively via FedEx hub-to-hub service. This is the safest method for live animals, ensuring your snake is held securely at a temperature-controlled facility rather than riding on a delivery truck all day.
Do you ship year-round?
Shipping is always weather dependent. We carefully monitor temperatures on both ends and along the route to ensure the safety of the animal. Every shipment is discussed and scheduled with the buyer.
Do I need to show ID when picking up my snake?
Yes — FedEx requires a valid ID when picking up a live animal shipment from a hub.
Health, Feeding & Quality
Are your ball pythons healthy?
Yes. All of our snakes are healthy, well-started, and properly established before going to a new home.
What do your snakes eat?
We aim to start babies on live rat pups, as rats provide better long-term nutrition. For more stubborn feeders, we may use mice temporarily, but we always work toward transitioning them back to rats.
We also introduce frozen/thawed feeding early, and many of our snakes are already familiar with both.
Do you guarantee feeding?
Yes — we are always transparent about feeding habits and ensure that every snake is feeding consistently before it leaves.
Can you help me transition my snake to frozen/thawed?
Absolutely. Ball pythons can be picky eaters, and we provide tips, guidance, and support to help you successfully transition feeders.
Genetics & Morphs
Are your genetics guaranteed?
We do our best to provide accurate genetic identification based on visible traits and breeding history.
However, ball python genetics can be complex due to multiple interacting genes. We intentionally focus on clean, identifiable combinations and avoid overly ambiguous pairings.
Shed testing can help in some cases, but it is not always definitive and adds cost.
What types of ball pythons do you sell?
We offer a mix of pet-quality, mid-tier, and select higher-end morphs, with a strong focus on producing beautiful, healthy snakes that make great pets.
When Are Snakes Ready to Go?
At what age do you sell your baby ball pythons?
We only sell babies that:
- Have eaten at least 3 consistent meals
- Weigh a minimum of ~100g
This ensures they are stable and well-started.
Do you sell adult snakes?
Yes. Adult snakes may be available from time to time.
Females that have recently laid eggs are only sold after:
- Fully recovering
- Eating 3–5 consecutive meals
Customer Support & Experience
Do you help beginners choose a snake?
Yes — we’re always happy to help. Whether it’s your first snake or your tenth, we’ll guide you toward the right fit.
Do you provide support after the sale?
Absolutely. We provide ongoing support via:
- Phone
- Social media
We believe in building long-term relationships, not just making a sale.
Do you provide care guidance?
Yes — especially for first-time owners.
We strongly recommend having your enclosure fully set up before receiving your snake, and we’re happy to hold your animal until you’re ready.

Do I need a permit in NJ?

However, they still require proper care and commitment.
